Industrial Bromine Recovery Systems

Bromine Recovery System for industrial bromide streams

SH Engitech designs and engineers customized Bromine Recovery Systems for recovering bromine from suitable bromide-containing industrial streams such as aqueous HBr, NaBr and KBr solutions. Each system is configured according to feed chemistry, bromide concentration, flow rate, impurities, operating temperature, recovery requirements and recovered-bromine quality.

Depending on the feed chemistry and process configuration, bromide is converted into elemental bromine under controlled operating conditions. The liberated bromine is then transferred from the aqueous phase through steam stripping or an equivalent separation process. Bromine-containing vapours are subsequently condensed and routed to a phase separation stage, where the bromine-rich phase is separated from the aqueous phase. Appropriate and heat-transfer components are selected according to the process conditions and required capacity.

Where higher product purity is required, the recovered bromine can undergo additional purification or rectification using suitable distillation equipment. Residual bromine-bearing vapours can be directed to a dedicated for controlled off-gas treatment. The final configuration is selected according to feed chemistry, processing capacity, recovery requirements, product specifications and available utilities.

Frequently Asked Questions About Bromine Recovery Systems

A bromine recovery system is an engineered process system used to recover bromine from suitable bromide-containing industrial streams such as HBr, NaBr and KBr solutions. Depending on the process requirements, the system may incorporate bromine liberation, steam stripping, condensation, phase separation, purification and tail-gas treatment.

Bromide-containing feed is processed under controlled conditions to liberate elemental bromine. The bromine is then transferred from the aqueous phase through steam stripping or an equivalent separation process, followed by condensation and phase separation. Additional purification can be incorporated where a higher recovered-bromine specification is required.

Bromine recovery systems can be engineered for suitable HBr, NaBr, KBr and other bromide-containing industrial streams. Final process suitability depends on feed concentration, flow rate, impurities, temperature, chemical composition and required recovery performance.

Yes. SH Engitech designs customized bromine recovery systems according to feed chemistry, processing capacity, operating conditions, recovery requirements, product specifications, available utilities and existing plant infrastructure.

Material selection depends on bromine concentration, halide loading, temperature, pressure and chemical compatibility. Depending on the process conditions, construction may incorporate SS316L, glass-lined components and PTFE-lined piping or components for selected corrosive services.

Where residual bromine-bearing vapours are generated, a dedicated tail-gas scrubbing system can be incorporated for controlled off-gas treatment. The requirement and configuration depend on process chemistry, vapour composition and applicable emission-control requirements.
